Books, Eh? [Morgan]

Morgan as usual had his nose in a book. This time it was ironically a book on Celtic lore and he was reading the few pages on a creature known as the Bean Sìth or Bean Nighe also commonly known by its anglicized version of the name Banshee. The old weathered pages where decorated with fine printed cursive in one of the Gaelic dialects and there was a beautiful imagery of a wailing woman washing the bloodstained clothes or armour of those who are about to die. He found legends about Faerie creatures to be fascinating… however the last time he dealt with pixies was not so good, as the bloody little terrors had to go and weave flowers through his hair. Morgan traced the artwork almost reverently with his fingers as he read that a Banshee’s keen is meant to sound beautifully haunting and he wondered if it rivaled his own melancholic music he sang and played on his Lyre. He picked up the steaming mug of licorice tea and sipped at it as he listened to the thrum of Celtic music filling the store with a sense of peace and tranquility.

However Morgan’s reverie was broken when the wind chime like bell chimed out and Morgan peered over the rim of his book which the front cover was decorated with Celtic symbols like the Triquetra and the Triskelion. He saw a handsome dark haired man who was roughly six feet tall with very expressive brown eyes walk in and start to browse the book section of his store. Morgan did like his men with dark hair and so he thought it might make his day having some of the looks he preferred in his store for once. Not that he planned to flirt or anything as he was waiting to find that one person from his dreams… but that did not mean he could not look, right? Morgan however wondered what the man was looking for and he placed the book down with the pages open as he stood and stretched giving his stiff body that had been sitting for far to long a good long stretch and his sleeveless shirt may have ridden up as he did so, he soon smoothed out his shirt before slipping from behind the counter with grace that came with ease and let his melodic accented voice which held hints of the Damien’s homeland but with a mix of other European countries as well.

“Hello there, how can I help you today?”

Notes; The book is a coincidence and its fine XD

Morgan’s eyes lit up when he heard the familiar lilt of an Irish accent and he grinned, as he was delighted to hear the familiar tones of that accent as Ireland was one of his first stops in his journey. Morgan may have been stunned by that way to bright smile for a minute, but not too stunned enough to actually not hear him say hello and to mention that he was not to sure and that he was just browsing at the moment. The man also mentioned he had heard about the store via gossip and he could not help but wonder if his old man had been behind the supposed gossip. Morgan watched him turn back to the books and Morgan figured he would slip back over to the counter and have some more tea in the mean time.

“well I will just be over at the counter if you need help finding anything, we do have some books on more modernized Celtic tales in there some where that are a bit more kid friendly compared to the original tales, that’s if I am hearing your accent right and that you are from the Emerald Isle?”

Morgan did slid back behind the counter quickly taking a sip of his tea before returning to reading about Bean Sìth with vigor while keeping his pale icy blue eyes over the rim of his book on his sole customer and just like Damien himself something niggled at the back of his mind which he could not place. Ironically he had a male Bean Sìth which was practically impossible in his store whilst he read about them in a book that was written in one of the older Gaelic Dialects. Not that Morgan knew Damien was a Banshee… just like how Damien did not know Morgan was of the Stjòrnùalfar. Still the curiosity if an elf was a timeless thing and Morgan watched out of the corner of his eyes whilst he read his book.

Damien should be grateful that Morgan had his glamour up as his good looks where dampened a bit when he was glamored. If he was unglamored he would be unearthly in appearance, whilst being so handsome or beautiful that he would draw all eyes to him once he entered the any room. The only trait of his that remained untouched was his eyes. His glamour never hid the glacier water like colour and just how old they looked. Morgan also would agree to Damien’s sentiments of being afraid to get close to anyone else, as people had the knack of abandoning him, whether it was to death or just cutting him out of their lives. Safe to say he was an lonely individual who had nothing but his books, his store and his nagging old man of a Sheriff who was insisting that he date some one nice lately. But Morgan found it hard to open up as he could not date just some random human as the moment they found out he was of the Stjòrnùalfar they would most likely abandon him in favor of some one with less baggage and more normality. So he evaded his old man’s probing at his love life, with the less so subtle poking of wanting grandchildren event though the first lot would be from his adopted son (The Sheriff wanted Stiles to wait til he was cemented after college before he had kids).

Morgan peered further over his book when he heard Damien say “Indeed you hear correctly. I’ll be sure to check that book out. Perhaps it’s something my nephew would enjoy” and even though Damien mumbled the last part of it Morgan heard it clear as day due to his enhanced hearing. For the most part Damien kept his eyes on the book case whilst Morgan keep his just over the rim of his book and sipping his tea every once and awhile. Morgan got the feeling that the book he mentioned might not be exactly what the ma was after so he thought and looked at the man’s aura for answers and noticed the indigo color and he wondered what this man had seen in his life and it hit him.

“If its more to your taste, there is a book in there somewhere to do with the Tuatha Dé Dannan, also known as the Aos Sí or Aes Sídhe” Morgan paused and let that sink in before he continued.

“Also known as the Celtic Faerie folk as Sídhe does translates to Faerie Mound or Faerie Hill”

Morgan whilst he could not see or sense what Damien was feeling he understood having to leave to protect the ones you love. After all he fled Beacon Hill’s six years ago to protect all he had left, but at least Damien’s family was still talking to him hopefully. While Morgan’s younger brother would rather pretend that he did not exist and his adopted father seemed to be trying to use Morgan’s return as an excuse to try to pull the wool over peoples eyes so he could eat his converted junk food. Morgan felt ungrounded, and distance from the world of late as he was a Stjòrnùalfar a “Court” and with out that grounding force his mind would be left to fade into Starlight so to speak. He had lost his biological family to who knows what sort of horror struck them down.

Morgan groaned when he was told he was translating it to some one who did not need translating and he face palmed and muttered something in Icelandic before regaining his composure. “I am so sorry… I am so used to people being so less in formed and not speaking any of the Gaelic dialects that I just ran on autopilot there” Morgan blushed some what and it was kind of obvious on his alabaster skin tone. Great he made a fool of himself in front of a handsome Irish man, not that he had plans to date the man, but a little flirting would not be minded. Morgan was both grateful and ungrateful when the man found his book and plucked it from the shelf and started flipping through the pages with vigour with a noise of delight escaping his mouth. Morgan was grateful because this meant he could not further embarrass himself and even covertly check out his customer (Looking never hurt anyone right?) on the other hand he would not mind talking to this man more, he seemed like an interesting person and some one who he felt he could share his experiences in Ireland with. So over the rim of his book he stealthily observed Damien, enjoying the delight he gained from the book Morgan pointed out with a little pride.

Notes; Morgan may be destined for Derek, but a little looking for now is fine lol

Morgan’s brow furrowed at the mention of the man just teasing as he was awhile since he had that form of interaction, the last time he recalled being teased was by Laura, when she teased him about something to with Derek. His face smoothed out as he heard the man say he used Gaelic all the time back home and that here in the colonies it is harder to use it with out having to translate it when you don’t run into it every day. Morgan grinned a grin that was all white teeth and he responded with a light laugh.

“I am just used to switching between more than one language I suppose… translating comes easily to me”

The man then turned back to the books before him and tucked the Celtic Faerie Tale book under his arm. Morgan perked up when the man asked about how he picked up Gaelic so perfectly with out being Irish and Morgan let his book clunk slightly on the counter with out the pages being disturbed and it would be left open on the same page he was reading.

Morgan pondered on the best way to answer the man’s question and he figured he would start from the beginning. “Well as you are a native to Gaelic you should know that there are more than one form of Gaelic such as Welsh being one form of it” Morgan paused as he became lost in memories of Branwen, his first adoptive mother and his gaze caught the dedication for her on the wall and he smiled sadly. “I first learnt the welsh variant of Gaelic from my first adoptive mother as she felt I would do better learning it over English as when I came into her care I did not speak a lick of any known language and according to her and many others I spoke a bunch of gibberish” He remembered those days where he picked up the basics and just soaked it all up and learnt it faster then most.

“I have this knack for learning languages with ease if I lie the sound of them… but the rest of it was picked up during my brief stay in the United Kingdom, more specifically Ireland at the time and that was around six or so years ago that I spent in Ireland which lasted three years till I moved on to Scandinavia”

Morgan noted how the man kept his focus on the books instead of him and he shook his head in amusement.

Notes; Poor Choice of words XD More like I plan to pair Derek and Morgan up lol

Morgan would sip at his tea some more and he frowned when he realized he had drained the mug dry as he saw that the man was once more in grossed by the books in his store. Morgan did not intend to insult the man but life happens and you can’t win everything as Morgan just has that habit of explaining things, but he meant well by it. Morgan arched an eyebrow when the man said it was impressive that he learnt the language so easily but in Morgan’s opinion it was not. He shrugged and toyed with the corner of the page of the book he was reading.

“I don’t see it that way… its normal for me I just have an affinity for it I suppose”

After all Morgan was highly intelligent, he just found it awkward when dealing with people in regards to said intelligence as he disliked being just seen as an smart person and less of a person himself.

Morgan picked up his mug and moved to the kitchen that was at the back of the store and fixed himself another mug of Licorice Tea and moved back to the counter and placed the tea to steep on the counter as he kept watching the man, wondering if there was anything he could do to assist the man in finding what he was looking for.

“But my real forte is lore to do with Mythological creatures I suppose… I find the old legends so very interesting…” Morgan had by this point stopped paying attention to his book and if Damien happened to look over he would notice it and what it was open to.

Morgan quirked an eyebrow when he heard the man say ”It may not seem impressive to you, but it is to the rest of us who are native to Ireland. It takes people some time to get things figured out” . Morgan shrugged at the comment and figured the man had a point. “Touche I see your point…” The man however turned and was distracted by the books, and he tilted his head when the man made a noise of surprise and Morgan saw him pick up a book of Mythological creatures or lore to do with them. It was a decent choice but Morgan thought the contents where inaccurate and he found it a humorous read. Some o the books in his personal archives where definitely more accurate then that. He saw the man turn to him and respond to his earlier comment by saying . ”Yes, it is interesting stuff. My father was obsessed you could say. It’s what he taught at a University in Ireland” . Morgan nodded and smiled.

“it is if you can find material that is worth while and accurate”

Morgan shrugged when he heard him say ”It’s why I’m so surprised to see this. It’s a book my father has talked about for years” . Morgan decided to mention that the book was some what humorous to read and maybe a bit in accurate.

“Aye it’s a good read… rather humorous in my opinion… I have read a lot more accurate books”

He heard the man say ”Perfect for him, no?” and Morgan shrugged and looked down at his on book that was written in Gaelic. “It might be, I am sure he will at least find it amusing… but for example I think a lot of older texts are more accurate and interesting… such as what I am reading right now… it has detailed notes and artwork on Celtic Faerie folk”

Morgan moved his mug and book aside when the man placed his purchases on the counter and Morgan returned the man's grin with one of his own. He tallied up the cost of the books, it was Fifth teen for the children’s book and twenty five for the one on lore bringing to a total cost of forty dollars. He rung it up on the cash register and pulled out the a paper bag with the symbol of his store on it and slide the books inside, alongside with a business card. He wrote up a receipt and slid that in the bag as well, before looking up his own icy coloured eyes catching the man's eyes.

“That will bring you to a total of forty dollars for the two of them”
