There is mischife in the wind {open}

Cayden felt something bump into him as he was sitting there trying to figure this school out. He looked up and noticed another student who had just dropped her books. He let out a small smile to her has he got down and started to help her pick up her books. His golden eyes met hers as he picked up the last of the books on the ground.

It's alright. No harm, no foul. He said this in a soft voice. As he stood back up he dusted off his faded blue jeans. He was wearing a blue button down, but it was covered by his green hoody, the hood pulled back. His gentle features were softened even further by his dimpled smile. As he handed her the book, he let out a light laugh.

I'm sorry if I tripped you by mistake. I'm Cayden by the way. But most people just call me Den, or Ash. He shouldered his messenger bag again, slipping his schedule back into it. He ran his fingers through his hair again, a habit he had had since he was much younger. It was almost akin to a fox cocking it's head to the side when it was trying to figure out a new situation. He was always awkward during his first encounters with new people. But that didn't really matter. He knew that it was just a matter of time before he lost the 'new boy' status, and injected himself into the school. But that wasn't his end game. His real motives were much more interesting. He wanted to get into the social circles of the supernatural creatures, with out giving himself away. He wasn't sure if this girl was going to help him or not, but it was worth a shot. Every one needed a place to start there search.

Cayden smiled a little brighter as she thanked him for his help, and when she introduced herself, the young man nodded his head slightly. He knew this was a good start to his semester. The role of the new guy was one of two things, either complete social exile, or straight ascent to social royalty. He wasn't sure where Kris stood in the hierarchy or this place, but he was willing to start with her. Maybe he could get into at least a clique worth his time. It was all about who you knew, especially when you were trying to figure out the secrets of the world around you.

The pleasure is all mine Kris,his soft voice was velvet smooth. He never let his eyes wander from hers as he spoke. He took his seat again, and motioned for her to sit with him. He needed a partner for the labs anyway. He hoped he wasn't being to forward with his request.

I'm sure I'll take you up on that before the day ends. This place is like a maze. Not to mention, do you think I could bother you by asking about places worth going to? We just moved to town over the break, and I haven't had much of a chance to check out the town. His idle chit chat was just as much trying to get her to show him around town as it was to kill time while he waited for the teacher to make there entrance.

He studied her, not in a creepy way, but in the way one studies an enigma. She was now a mystery to be solved. Her long auburn hair, her complexion, even the way she was dressed. He was trying to read her based off of how she carried herself, how she spoke. Every little detail was important. But it was only second to what he really wanted. He wanted to have some fun. He was already board with life in Beacon Hills, seeing as he had done a lot of work with his house, and his parents. He didn't like doing anything serious. Life was to short for that.

Would you? That would be amazing! His smile was wide and mischievous. This meeting was going better then he had expected. Who knows, maybe he would even have a little fun while they were out. Nothing like playing tricks on people with someone else to enjoy it just as much. He wondered if she was the type to enjoy playing pranks, but then thought better of asking. he would find out later today anyway. He couldn't help himself. It was in his nature to play pranks on people.

Parties? Solid. I haven't been to a party in over a year. After one at my old school got a little wild, my 'rents wouldn't let me go. But what they don't know won't hurt them right? He seemed honestly excited. He was, because parties meant lots of people, and lots of people meant games. Games meant fun.

So what all can you tell me about the other students here? Is there any group I need to watch out for? His voice radiated a sense of worry and apprehension. There was always in 'it' crowd, and Cayden was just asking questions that any new kid would worry about. So far as he was concerned, if there was a crowed to mess with, it was the in crowd of a high school. Bullies and self absorbed people were some of his favorite play mates.

He hadn't realized it, but he was drumming his fingers on the desk in a rhythmic pattern. An old habit he had picked up over the years. His hands and mind had to stay busy, or he would start to fidget and squirm. Most of his teachers thought he had ADHD coupled with dyslexia. He refused to correct them, seeing as it helped his cover. He smiled sheepishly as he moved his hand away from the desk.

Sorry, I fidget. He offered with a weak voice. He kept the illusion of a timid guy up for the moment.

Oh, them finding out I snuck out isn't much of an issue. I spend most of my time down in the cellar. My room hasn't been slept in except like twice since it's been refurbished. His smile said that this wasn't a bad thing. He loved his 'den'. It was his safe haven from the world. The place where he could meditate, practice his arts, and release his frustrations.

When she talked about his secret being safe, he couldn't help but let out a soft laugh. A breeze across his lips, barely audible. Oh, I assure you it isn't a secret at all. That or my dyslexia. But those are neither here nor there. He took out his AP Biology book, and his notebook and pen. The teacher had entered and was talking about nothing Den didn't already know. So instead he continued his conversation with Kris.

So, the football team? Fair enough. Looks like even in a place like this, the jocks rule the roost. I'm almost hoping they try. His impish grin took over his face. The delight of messing with the bullies almost compelling him to seek them out.

How about you? What kinda people do you hang with? His question was simple enough. He wasn't sure what part of the social stratosphere she belonged to yet. Not that it would change his plans to hang out with her after school. He just was curious. And if his particular brand of mischief would help her out against some bullies, then that was just an added bonus.

Den was so engrossed by the conversation and his own thoughts that he didn't even bother looking up when the teacher was showing them the next chapter's overview.

So, there's talk that this place has like, tons, of unsolved murders. What's up with that? He had done his homework, but he wanted a local's point of view on the situation in town. He was honestly interested in her response, so his tone of voice was completely sincere.

That's cool. It's important to band together with like minded people. She had been vague on that, but he wouldn't pry to much... yet.

He noticed her dismissal of his next question. Hard to explain? Now there was something he could sink his teeth into. He needed to know the extant of the supernatural culture. He wasn't sure if this girl could lead him to that or not, but it was just a matter of time before he found everything he needed. After all, who could play a game with out knowing all the players?

Some people say it was wild animals, others say ... well never mind. I'm sure it's just a bunch of rubbish anyway. Stories to tell younger kids to freak them out. He was playing the role of a human, so he couldn't show his cards just yet.

He took a few quick notes, not really worried about the actual overview, but wanted to maintain the illusion. It wasn't hard to do. Most people wouldn't think twice about the new kid asking all sorts of questions, or trying to keep up in an AP course.

After he jotted down his notes, he chewed on his pen. Then, taking the pen out of his mouth, he turned to Kris again.

Anyway, one name did keep popping out when I searched strange things in Beacon Hills. Do you know who the Hale family is? Apparently, there house burned down with people inside, and then more recently, one of the girls of the family was found ripped in two. Her brother was accused of it, but ended up walking. And that's just one of many odd happenings that I read about.

So, What do you do besides party? His full attention was on the girl herself now. His smile had shifted from one of just polite conversation, to a flirty half smirk, as his train of questions shifted to focus on just her. He turned his body in his chair, so that he was facing more toward her then the front of the class.

What kind of music do you like? He couldn't help his nature. Flirting was a big part of it. And it helped get him what he wanted. At this point in time he wasn't sure exactly what he was after, but that wasn't the point. It was the game that was important.

He leaned back in his chair, taking a much more relaxed posture. He found that it made him seem more approachable to people. He knew the dance, it was ingrained into him. First would come the random series of questions and answers from each participant, then on to more meaningful conversations. She had said that she knew for a fact that the brother hadn't done it. That was what he was focused on now.

He wanted to know what she knew, and if it meant playing the oldest game in humanity, then he was okay with that.
