MALIA ANNE TATE Whatever you do, I'll do it too show me everything and tell me how it all means something and yet nothing to me i can see there's so much to learn it's all so close and yet so far Werecoyote Full Name: Malia Anne Tate Nicknames: N/A Age: Seventeen Birthday: June 12 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Face Claim: Shelley Hennig Appearance: Malia has about mid length dark brown hair with light brown, blonde, and gold highlights in it. She usually wears it down and loose and it falls in gentle waves to about four out five inches past her shoulders. Malia has dark brown eyes that turn a bright blue when she utilizes her werecoyote abilities since she, although unintentionally, was the cause of her mother and sister's deaths. Her skin is tanned and appears to be a light golden brown color, likely from the years spent outside. Malia is fairly tall, standing at five feet seven inches, and weighing one hundred thirty three pounds. She's pretty muscular mostly due to her eight years in the wilderness and her werecoyote physique. Still adapting to being a human, Malia's sense of style shifts ever so often. She prefers jeans mostly and has a fairly casual sense of dress though she is particularly fond of jackets because ever since her shift back into a human she's felt cold. Personality: Because nearly half of her life was spent as a coyote, Malia is still feral in some ways and tends to consider the world the way a coyote would. This results in her being extremely socially awkward and although she acts like it doesn't bother her, she is very self-conscious of that fact. She tries to imitate the behaviors that she sees and constantly tries to remind her to 'think human'. In situations of stress or where she is put on the spot though, Malia reverts to her typical approach which is to think like a coyote. This can sometimes give her an almost callous attitude towards others since as a coyote she is used to a survival of the fittest and kill or be killed situation. This survival of the fittest mindset leads to her hiding any weaknesses and being extremely reluctant to admit to failures. She has a hard time grasping the concept of friends and as such does not feel any moral compunction about leaving people behind in order to escape a dangerous situation, since that is what a coyote would do. This is not exclusive to her though as she believes that should the roles be reversed the rest of the pack would leave her. Despite the trouble she has forming bonds, Malia is particularly attached to Stiles and has developed an intense interest in him. Although a little self-conscious about her social skills, Malia is very confident and projects that constantly. A part of her attitude is the coyote thought that if she acts brave and confident then others will be less likely to mess with her. The rest is just her naturally confident personality showing through. Since a coyote doesn't get embarrassed, Malia is not shy about topics that others tend to steer clear of and is not very good at picking up on subtle hints. All in all, she is a sweet girl but is struggling to rein in the coyote part of her successfully. Mother: Susannah Tate Father: Children: N/A Pets: A Golden Retriever Named Duke Others: History: Malia had a fairly normal childhood until one fateful night when she was nine years old. It was a full moon and even though Malia wasn't feeling all that well she refused to complain to her parents knowing that if they thought that she was sick they would cancel the girls night planned for her, her mom, and her little sister. So she suffered in silence but on the way to the movie theater she started feeling worse and worse, ultimately losing control and shifting into a coyote. With both her animal side and human side panicking not to mention the terrified screams of her mother and sister, a frightened Malia tried to escape the car. Her antics combined with her mother's inattention to the road as she was distracted by her daughter's sudden transformation resulted in the car driving off the side of the road. Malia was the only one to survive the crash and the guilt as well as the fear and lack of control resulted in her becoming stuck in her coyote form. Although as a coyote she couldn't exactly mourn her family's deaths, a small part of her recognized the tragedy and treated the site of the wreck with respect and sorrow. Malia lived as a coyote for eight years, slowly losing touch with her human side and becoming more and more like an animal each day. Everything changed however when humans started coming around the wreck again, one had even had the audacity to remove her sister's doll. After reclaiming the doll, things only got more and more complicated until finally Malia was forced back into her human body by Scott McCall. At first, although she was delighted to be reunited with her father, she resented Scott and his friend Stiles for throwing her into a completely different world than the one she was used to. Her attempts to speak of her experiences eventually resulted in her being committed to Eiden House despite the psychiatrist's encouragement to 'talk about her experiences and feelings'. While there she was reintroduced to Stiles and despite first being angry with him for helping Scott to make her human again, Malia warmed to him eventually. Once she put aside her frustration over her inability to seamlessly melt back into her human life, she found that she actually liked Stiles.... a lot. After a short while, she convinced her father that she was over the 'trauma' of living in the woods for eight years and she was released from Eiden House. She enrolled into Beacon Hills High School and agreed to learn control from Scott. Although she still feels a little out of place in the human world, Malia is doing her very best to adapt and prove herself a worthy member of Scott's pack. RP Sample: High school was shaping up to be one of the most difficult challenges that Malia had ever faced. The woods had been simple compared to the jungle that she now faced, with all of its complex rules and systems. In the wild the rules had been simple, eat or be eaten, survival of the fittest, etc; here however, the rules seemed to be the same but were hidden under double meanings and false words. This was a world of social standings, class grades, and who knew who; essentially the same as survival of the fittest but with oddly human twists. For example, it wasn't shows off strength or power that put a person at the top but who they were friends with or how many parties they were invited to that gave them the highest social standing. It was all very confusing to Malia, who had just about decided that she preferred running about on four legs to attending high school. Luckily, she had a pack that helped her to gain a fairly decent social standing though Malia had the feeling that she still had a ways to go before she'd be considered anything other than the weak link of the pack. That more than anything worried her, in her experience weak links that were too weak and dragged the pack down were eventually cut off. She, however, was determined not to be cut off and was trying her hardest to blend in with the humans and be a valuable pack member. So far though, she still felt a bit like a replacement, like someone who was trying out for the team but hadn't yet cemented their place on it. From what she gathered from various sources, Kira, the kitsune girl, felt similarly but at least she'd been around for longer. Kira had been a part of the pack while the hunter, Allison Argent, had been but Malia on the other hand had joined officially only after Allison's death. It made her feel a little bit like she was a stand in, like they'd lost one member and had needed to fill that spot and had chosen Malia to do so. What she needed was to prove that she was truly a part of the pack, difficult when they'd all known each other for so long, but she was confident that she could do it. |
