Quality Time [Stiles]

Melissa gazed down at Stiles a moment, wondering if she would get a response from the boy when she asked him about getting him a prescription for some sleeping pills. The boy needed to sleep, but had she known about how he was trying to use his sleeping pills to get better sleep, she probably wouldn’t have offered to prescribe him more. Even so, she was sure that he needed these pills to sleep. She just hoped that he didn’t get addicted. If nothing else, she would make sure that they didn’t have any addicting qualities so that he could have as many refills as he deemed necessary, of course she would monitor him or at least have his father monitor how much he ingested and how often he refilled his prescription. But since she didn’t know about him already having used up most of his prescriptions, she had offered anyway and it wasn’t but a short moment later that Stiles nodded in response to her question.

The single mother smiled at the son of her best friend and the best friend of her son. She gently ran her fingers through his hair. She waited for him to respond to her suggestion, but after a moment there was a noise that seemed to break the silence between the two. There was a pause before Stiles moved away from her to pull out his phone. She gazed at the boy, crossing her arms over her chest as she studied him. He looked like hell warmed over, but she digressed. She sighed quietly, wishing now more than ever that none of this had ever happened. These kids were already being forced to become adults and deal with adult problems. They should be worried about what cute girl was in their class or what to wear to prom not who was trying to kill people. That wasn’t what they should be doing and every day, Melissa cursed the heavens. None of these kids deserved what they had happen to them and yet here they were, seemingly handling it better than even adults did.

Stiles finally spoke, telling Melissa that his father was texting him, wanting to know when he was coming home and where he was at. Melissa was quiet a moment, a very brief moment before she looked over at Stiles, her arms still crossed over her chest. ”Well if you want, you can tell him you’re staying over here with Scott, if you don’t want to go home that is. You can always sleep in Scott’s room or Iss…the guest bedroom,” she said with a small smile. The woman still wasn’t used to not having Isaac live in her home. Still, she knew that he needed to get out for a bit. He couldn’t be in the house where Scott and Allison had been in together. There was no doubt that her scent was still in the house and the poor boy couldn’t handle it. Scott had no choice in the matter but Isaac…he did.
