The Bestiary This is where you can find information on all of the supernatural creatures seen in Teen wolf along with pictures. You can find more information on all of these creatures at www.teenwolf.wikia.com werewolf Appearance They usually appear in human form and can shift to varying degrees into a bipedal wolf-like creature with increased body hair, fangs and glowing eyes. While most of the werewolves on the show remain in the "nearly human" form; Laura Hale and her mother, Talia Hale, looked like a regular wolf when transformed and Peter Hale took on a monstrous giant wolf-like form. The Alpha Twins could merge into one large creature but, while larger than normal, it retained a mostly human appearance. Abilities Heightened Senses: Werewolves can smell, see and hear far better than humans. Accelerated Healing: Werewolves heal quickly from most injuries. Enhanced Agility: Werewolves can jump, run, climb and react faster than humans. Enhanced Strength: Werewolves are much stronger than humans. Pain Transference: Werewolves can absorb and alleviate pain from other people/creatures and can "heal" in some cases. Memory Transference: Werewolves can transfer (give or take) memories by inserting claws into nape of an individual's neck. This ability can also allow direct "mind to mind' communication. NOTE: These abilities are common to all three types of werewolves. Even in human form they appear to possess all of these abilities. Some werewolves have shown the ability to sense illness and, in one case, the onset of an epileptic seizure. This seems to be due to a combination of their "Heightened Senses" working in concert on a subconscious level. Types of Werewolves There are three known types of werewolves in the Teen Wolf mythology. Omega An Omega is the “lone wolf”; existing without a pack and without an Alpha. They have all the werewolf abilities mentioned above but are considered weaker than other types because they are not part of a pack. Werewolves can become Omegas by choice or be forced out of a pack by the Alpha or by circumstance. NOTE: The term "omega of the pack" has been used in reference to the lowest ranking member/members of a pack. This does not indicate a drop in actual werewolf status but is instead used as an insult. Beta Betas are members of a pack and, because of this association, they are considered stronger than Omegas. They do not seem to have any special abilities beyond those mentioned above. NOTE: Both Betas and Omegas will show various skill levels based on experience therefore a direct comparison of power levels is difficult. Alpha An Alpha is the leader of a pack of werewolves. It is the strongest, most powerful and so far the most lethal variety of Werewolf. Becoming an Alpha A Beta or Omega can become an Alpha by killing an Alpha. A Beta or Omega can become an Alpha through strength of character or force of will alone. These are called “True Alphas” and are very rare. Kanima “Like the wolf, its power is greatest at the moon’s peak. Like the wolf, the Kanima is a social creature but where the wolf seeks a pack the Kanima seeks a master. The Kanima, a weapon of vengeance, is used to carry out the bidding of its master. The Kanima was once used by a South American priest who took it upon himself to rid his village of all murderers. The bond between master and servant grew stronger until the will of the master became that of the Kanima's and whomever the priest deemed unworthy, the Kanima served his vengeance. The Kanima is a mutation of the werewolf gene that cannot fully transform until it resolves that in its past which manifest it.” Physical Characteristics The kanima is roughly the size of an average human male and covered in scales. It has a long prehensile tail and can climb up walls like some varieties of lizard. Its claws are long and secrete venom that can paralyze victims for hours. It seems to heal very quickly, taking several bullets to the chest, recovering and resuming the fight. NOTE: The Kanima creature seen to date is apparently the Beta form. According to Peter Hale, its next level of development has wings. Kitsune キツネ Appearance We have only observed two Kitsune so far. To date, they have always appeared human to the naked eye. Kitsune Aura In digital photographs and to those with enhanced vision (See Werewolf), the Kitsune has a distinctive and fiery aura. It is shaped like a fox with large pointed ears and muzzle. Derek Hale notes that this effect is visible on young Kitsune because they "haven't learned to conceal" their true nature. Eyes Kira's eyes appeared to glow orange when she was absorbing electricity. Her eyes are the only indication of Kitsune shape-shifting abilities. Types of Kitsune There are 13 types of Kitsune within the Teen Wolf Universe. Only five have been named within the context of the show. They are: Celestial, Wild, Ocean, Thunder and Void (or Nogitsune). Until further notice, for the 13 Kitsune powers, this website will be the source of information on them until the Teen Wolf wiki is updated. Abilities We only have information about the two Kitsune currently on the show - other types may have other abilities. Foxfire Kira (Thunder Kitsunes) was able to absorb a large amount of electricity into her body. She explains that, according to myth, when a Kitsune rubs its tails together it can create fire or lightning called "foxfire." She is quick to add that she doesn't have any tails. The foxfire appears to be more than just electrical. There is apparently a magical component as well as Kira was able to use lightning to repair a broken Katana. Speed Kira is surprised and delighted to find out that she can run supernaturally fast. Healing Noshiko exhibited accelerated healing although it took her some time to recover from several bullet wounds in 1943. Aging Noshiko appears as a teenager in 1943 and a woman of 35 currently. She claims to be 900 years old. It is unclear if her appearance is a natural phenomenon or some sort of illusion (like the Kitsune aura) that she is able to project. WerecoyotE There is an almost unlimited variety of human/animal shapeshifters in real world myths and stories. In Anchors we see the first appearance of a Werecoyote. Malia Tate appears fully animal-like with glowing blue eyes as the only sign of the supernatural. Scott is able to exert limited mental control over the Werecoyote due to his Alpha status and forces it to revert to human form. as much as we know, the werecoyote is very similar to the werewolf and has the same strenghts and weaknesses. Nogitsune 野狐 History The Nogitsune was first summoned by a Kitsune named Noshiko Yukimura in 1943 in an attempt to gain her revenge on the soldiers at the Oak Creek Internment Camp during WWII. Instead of inhabiting her, as she had prayed, it inhabited the bandage wrapped dead body of her lover, Corporal Rhys. He proceeds to kill everyone at the prison camp and Eichen House, the hospital where Rhys died. He is finally killed by Noshiko and a female werewolf in the tunnels beneath the camp. Upon his "death" a fly flew out of his mouth and was captured by Noshiko. She later placed it in a jar and buried it beneath the Nemeton. Riddles The Nogitsune is overly fond of riddles. Riddling at Stiles throughout his attempts to possess his body. This seems to stem from the fact that one of the first soldiers he killed in 1943 was also fond of riddles and had been spouting a steady stream of them just before the Nogitsune killed him. Abilities The Nogitsune seen in Beacon Hills in 1943 and 2011 seems to have a number of heretofore unseen supernatural abilities. Mass Hallucinations Edit The Nogitsune was able to give Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Kira the same hallucination of being in a snowy garden when they were actually still outside the school. Emotional Vampirism Notigsune/Stiles absorbs and feeds on negative emotions caused by pain, chaos, and strife. He did this directly through physical contact with Scott but also seems to draw them from chaotic events around him. Possession The fox spirit can possess it's primary host and, through the use of flies that come from within the host body, possess others. This ability seems to work on dead bodies as well since Corporal Rhys was apparently dead when the spirit took him. Instantaneous Transport Edit EDITOR'S NOTE: In the first instance, it is unclear if this is an actual ability or simply a dramatic device employed by the writers. The second time it happened he was with the Oni so it is unclear if he did the transporting. Nogitsune/Stiles seemed to be able to move quickly from location to location disappearing from Derek's loft and showing up at Eichen House moments later. Nogitsune/Stiles along with the Oni were able to instantaneously transport from the tunnels below Oak Creek to the surface. Enhanced Abilities Edit Nogitsune/Stiles employed strength and fighting skills on par with the other supernatural creatures on the show. Oni History All of our background and history about the Oni comes from Silverfinger. The old Yakuza's description is more poetic than probative. In both instances seen in Teen Wolf, Chris Argent as a teen and the current story line, Oni seek a "dark Kitsune" also described as a "dark spirit" that has possessed someone. Silverfinger claims they are unstoppable and that "no man-made" weapon can stop them. He describes them as a "force of nature" comparable to a tsunami. He says they are not to be fought but simply endured until they finish their work. Like the weather, the Oni are neither good nor evil. They are simply given a task and will let nothing stop them in the pursuit of that task. They kill anyone who opposes them. The Oni seen most recently on the show were summoned and controlled by the breaking of special knives which are apparently the physical manifestation of Kitsune Noshiko Yukimura's tails. The age of the "tail" determined the "power" of the Oni summoned. Appearance Oni appear to be made of black smoke or shadow which coalesces into a humanoid shape, a modified shinobi shōzoku, and black masks similar to Japanese Hannya masks. Their eyes glow a golden-green color similar to the fireflies seen exiting the Nemeton in More Bad Than Good. Abilities They can phase through solid matter, are skilled in martial arts combat, and fight with Ninjatō or straight swords. Like other supernatural creatures, Oni are blocked by Mountain Ash barriers but, with much effort, can eventually break through. Banshee Banshee Abilities Peter says her scream is simply a means to an end, drowning out all other sounds so that she can focus on the voices only she can hear. It appears that she is connected to some supernatural network that broadcasts messages about death and dying. According to Teen Wolf Creator Jeff Davis, it is "the whispers of other banshees." This was seen in Motel California when she heard the voices of the people killed at the motel, in Riddled as she heard Stiles' voice coming from a speaker and other whispers when she plucked the strings in his bedroom. Peter uses Lydia to listen to the whispers from his sister's claws in Letharia Vulpina and learns he has a child. The Nogitsune kidnaps Lydia to use her power so that he will know when the Oni are close enough to kill him. Lydia is also able to communicate with a fellow Banshee, Meredith Walker, to tell Stiles that she doesn't want to be found Druid “Druid” in Gaelic means “Wise Oak”. Within the Mythology of Teen Wolf, Druids act as advisors, emissaries, to the werewolf packs. This connection formed in ancient Greece after King Lycaon and his sons were turned into wolves by the god Zeus. The Druids had shapeshifting abilities and, while they could not undo the curse, they taught Lycaon how to shift back and forth between human and wolf. Darach History According to Dr. Deaton, Darach means "Dark Oak". This information is presented in opposition to the word Druid which Deaton says means "Wise Oak". Deaton claims the word would be applied to one who "went down the wrong path". Modus Operandi In each attack seen on screen, victims suffered visual or auditory hallucinations before they were taken. In the first six cases, the killer employs a Threefold Death ritual, using three different types of fatal blows on each victim - Blow to the Head Sliced Throat Strangulation by Garrote After the first six, the Darach changed to a crucifixion-like hanging method where the individual is suspended by the hands. The victims still suffocate but the manner of their death takes longer and they suffer more. The victims, in groups of three, seem to be chosen due to some common status.
