It was so odd going back to the hospital. The last time she had been it was probably one of the biggest moments of her life, and one of the most crucial. And had since moved back to her home town. So when it came time for a checkup, she was filled with all sorts of butterflies. Bits and pieces of memories helped her put together a picture of what the place used to look like. She spend more time there than at school or anywhere but her room when she was that little. Even so, time had changed everything in Beacon Hills.
Hospitals and doctors offices always had a congruency though. Each had their own layout of course, but most had all of the same things, with different faces and sometimes fancier amenities than others. The hospital here was neither the best nor the worst she’d visited, and she had visited a lot of them. It sat slightly above average in a long list filled with memories of long bright hallways and loud beeping monitors. The people were certainly nicer here though.
In a town like this, the doctors and nurses had seen just about everyone at least once or twice. Even so, it probably wasn’t likely that anyone would remember her. An attendant had showed her to her room after sitting in the lobby for a couple minutes. Mina had gotten very good at waiting over the years and was not at all a stranger to the amounts of time spent in chairs, on beds, on waiting tables, in x-ray rooms and the like. So she was happy that today it didn’t take quite as long as usual. The nurse would be in at any time to ask the standard questions, and then the good ol' doc would take a five second peek and she could be off on her way.
She was feeling a bit anxious though. Being inside at all lately seemed to drive up her nerves. Like she had energy to burn and worries from no where. Maybe that was something to bring up to the doctor. Mina bobbled her toes back and forth over the edge of the bed, counting the tiles on the ceiling as she waited for someone to come in. A game she often played. Well, not so much a game as a way to waste time, but she always felt calmer while counting, or listing things. It was a tactic she used when she knew she was about to have a panic attack. Not that she was going to just then, but it couldn't hurt.
