Just get it over with... {Open}

Now that Ayame had returned to school, things were finally feeling normal again for the young Druid. Currently, she had been trying to process everything that she had been told. Stiles and Scott had been nice enough to give her the down low and as such. It had originally been just a way for her to be kept safe since one of the substitute teachers had attacked Stiles and Lydia, but when Scott had seen her and apparently smelled her, he had found out that she was a Druid, like the veterinary that he worked under. Not having a druid of his own and since Deaton was gone, Scott sent Ayame to Derek, who had been a big help in trying to figure out what she was, but she was sure Deaton would be more of help to her than anyone else she had talked to so far.

Still, given all of the chaos that had happened, it felt nice to be at school again. So, standing outside, she took a deep breath before heading in and to her locker. She spun in her code to the lock and with a tug, the locker was opened. She grabbed her things and put others away before she shut her locker and looked around. She bit down on her bottom lip before she made her way to Stiles’ locker, opening it and putting a few sleep aid items inside of it. She had noticed that her friend hadn’t been sleeping very well, or at all, and decided that she would try and help…without being too push or confrontational about it since he would no doubt become defensive.

As Ayame shut her friend’s locker, she turned and saw a rather lost looking guy head out of the office. She had to admit, he looked new, dapper in his suit and tie which no one hardly ever wore at Beacon Hills High unless there was a dance. She watched as he gazed down at the two pieces of paper in front of him and realized he wasn’t watching where he was going. Figuring she needed to get over there, Ayame made her way over to him, gently grabbing his arm and pulling him towards her and out of the way of a group of people. She looked over at him, somewhat sheepishly before she let go of his arm. ”Sorry, figured being flattened by a group of teenage girls wasn’t the way you wanted to start your first day,” she said with a small smile, ignoring the weird scratching sensation she got in the back of her skull.

The boy looked at Ayame with a fierceness that she hadn’t seen, but even so, she knew that he hadn’t meant it. She probably wouldn’t have acted all that different had someone grabbed her arm out of the blue. In a new place? She may have even lashed out so she considered his reaction to her touch pretty calm, given the different ways that the interaction could have gone. She should have thought about that first, but her instinct kicked in. She smiled at him a little before he replied to her words and then thanked her. ”Sorry for the grabbing, I didn’t mean to startle you as much as I did,” she said with a small smile in his direction.

Gently, Ayame rubbed the back of her head, trying to get the strange scratching sensation to stop before the boy introduced himself as Leo Wyatt. She smiled over at him before he said that he was obviously new. She chuckled. ”Yeah. Well, don’t feel too bad. I was new a few years ago and to be honest, sometimes I still feel like I’m brand new. It’s sometimes…difficult to make friends here. In a town so small, most people have their friends already. Most aren’t ready to be your friend unless you’re drop dead gorgeous or walk on water,” she joked, but she was half serious. If it hadn’t been for her leaving Coach’s classroom, Stiles would have never followed her and attempted to be her friend. ”I’m Ayame, by the way, Ayame Moon, but you can call me Aya, if you’d like,” she told him with a small smile.

The Druid had to admit she was surprised when he told her that her actions were fine and that he should have been the one apologizing. Ayame was about to argue with him about it, but she figured it would be best to drop the subject. Should he be a potential friend, she didn’t want to annoy him early on. After all, she was more than sure she irritated her best friend Stiles, BUT she digressed. Stiles had yet to terminate their friendship so apparently she hadn’t irritated him too badly just yet. Even so, this new boy was someone who she wanted to at least attempt to befriend. She knew what it was like, after all, to not have any of those in this place.

Ayame watched as the boy blinked in surprise at her, and she felt a blush creep onto her cheeks before he nodded at her a bit before he joked that with his looks it seemed like he was halfway there. She chuckled a bit before he said that he was not really someone who surrounded themselves with friends. ”I think you’re than halfway there if you ask me,” she said with a grin before she realized what she said. A horrified expression formed on her face. ”Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t supposed to say that out loud. I must have made you so uncomfortable,” she said, her blush growing a deeper shade of red and all the way down to her collarbone.

Well. Now she’d done it. Now she had officially embarrassed herself to the point of never wanting to see this person ever again. Even so, he said that it was a pleasure to meet her before saying that it was a bit early, but wondered if she could help him find his class. He had Economics. She grinned a bit when he struggled with Finstock’s name. ”Yeah, but no Mr. He’s Coach Finstock. Coaches the Lacrosse team here at Beacon Hills High. It’s like our Football,” she explained, hoping to get some of the attention away from her horrible blunder. ”He’s a little eccentric…you just gotta roll with it, you know?” She asked before she made her way down the hallway, slowly so he would follow.

The deep blush on Ayame’s cheeks remained intact as she waited for Leo to respond. She felt worried about how he would react to her words, after all, she had accidentally complimented him. She ran one of her hands through her hair, avoiding eye contact. Well, at least until Leo responded. He told her that she hadn’t made him feel awkward, or at least that’s what she thought he was going with. She looked up as he smiled at her awkwardly, telling her that it was fine before he sort of…asked if he was flattered before she noticed he was awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

Coach Finstock had been the gift from heaven that had taken their attention away from their awkward moment. Leo looked at her somewhat oddly before he told her that he didn’t know that their coaches taught classes as well. Ayame shrugged her shoulders. ”I’m pretty sure he’s one of the only people who not only can teach but knows anything about Economics…plus this school is more than a little small so…I don’t think many people are looking to get a job in Beacon Hills,” she explained to him with a small smile.

Leo asked about Lacrosse before he said that he hadn’t ever played before asking if it was the game with the nets on sticks. She chuckled and nodded her head. ”Yeah, our team’s seriously good, my friend Stiles is on the team although he’s…well he’s not the worst player,” she said with a chuckle before he asked if the teachers would make him stand in front of the class and introduce himself. Ayame paused a moment. ”Not all of them. I know Coach won’t. He would much rather teach than have you introduce yourself, although he may insist on you trying out for lacrosse if he thinks you look like you belong on the team,” she stated. Mostly because you do look like you belong on the team…fit as a fiddle, she thought to herself as she smile dover at him, feigning innocence.

The new Druid watched the boy before her as he told her that he highly doubted that Coach Finstock would consider him for the lacrosse team, or at least that’s what she assumed he was going to tell her. He sort of cut himself off mid sentence and looked down at himself, almost as if he had forgotten what in the blazes he looked like. Ayame’s eyebrows furrowed together and she scratched the back of her head, the scratching sensation on the back of her skull increasing the longer she stood beside Leo. She paused a moment, remembering that she had that feeling when she had been around Derek and Scott. Was this boy a werewolf as well?

It wasn’t long before the boy shook his head and told her that he had never played lacrosse. He then said that he wouldn’t want to ruin the team’s reputatioin. She smile dover at him. ”Yeah well, it’s not like you can’t lear—“ Ayame stopped, cutting herself short as she noticed that Leo had an almost horrified expression on his face. Well, perhaps not horrified, but worried? Ayame couldn’t place the emotion, but the boy wasn’t as relaxed as he had been previously. She paused a moment, wondering what was going on in his head before he finally spoke. He asked her if there were any dogs in the school. She nearly had a heart attack right then and there but kept her composure before she smiled at him.

Ayame shook her head. ”No, no dogs, but I do walk dogs occasionally so maybe it’s me?” She paused. ”Why? Are you allergic?” She asked him, hoping he would accept her lie. He wasn’t sure if he would, but it was worth a try. Besides, it’s not like telling someone that werewolves went to their high school was really normal. Leo seemed normal and as such, Ayame wanted to see normal. Although…she wasn’t as she found out. She thought she was but she was a Druid and apparently Druids were like powerful…people or something. She still wasn’t sure what she was, all she knew was that all wolf packs had Druids because of their wisdom and knowledge of the supernatural.

Tucking some hair behind her ear, Ayame gazed over at Leo a moment before he mumbled to himself. He then smiled over at her, doing something that she had seen Stiles to do her a million times. She saw a forced smile and wondered if all boys thought she was foolish enough to not see it, but when she did things like not say anything, she supposed it didn’t help. Still, not wanting to upset the new guy, she smiled back at him before he told her he was a little allergic to dogs and that it was okay though.

It was but a moment later that the mood sort of changed. The female faced ahead as she moved forward, making sure that she was still heading in the right direction. They were close. The boy asked if she liked Beacon Hills High since she was a transfer like himself. She smiled. ”Yeah, I like Beacon Hills High. It’s not a bad school, but sometimes…” She pauses. ”I’ll be real, this place is just like a normal high school even if Coach Finstock is a little weird,” she said with a shrug as they stopped outside of his classroom.

Biting down on her bottom lip, Ayame gazed over at Leonard as he joked about sometimes monsters in Beacon Hills creeped out, making her laugh. Although it probably didn’t sound like her normal laughs. It probably sounded ab it strangled, but she couldn’t help but think that he was spot on with that. Still, she shook her head, grinning, and rolled her eyes, trying to cover it up, she coughed. ”You could say that,” she decided to say before Leo mentioned something else. He spoke in a way that made Ayame smile a little. She had been like that when she had first tried to make friends but it had back fired, she made sure to not do that to the poor boy.

Then, quickly, Leonard added that if she had better things to do than sit with him at lunch, it was fine. The girl shook her head. ”No, no! I’d love for you to join me for lunch. I’m…pretty lonely during then anyway. I have my own table and everything,” she joked with a smile. Plus, she wouldn’t mind getting to know Leonard a little bit better. While she did have a best friend in Stiles, he had his other friends to hang about. Scott, Lydia, and whomever else he deemed friend. Kira, I think was another one. She didn’t sit with them at lunch and while Stiles probably felt bad about it, she never really brought it up, telling him she didn’t mind eating alone even if…she did feel a bit isolated, she didn’t need to be around Stiles all the time.
