Ariel smiled shyly and thanked Vincent when he said he wasn’t surprised and continued on complimenting her; sure, she knew it, but it was very different knowing it for yourself and hearing someone else say it to you. She was a bit amused by his choice of words young woman made her feel old (despite the use of the word young) but she preferred that than him calling him 'girl', or worse – little mermaid! "Great" she said when he accepted her offer, smiling back at him.
Ariel was stretching lightly, being casual about it, as she watched him, eager to hear his response out of pure curiosity. She noticed his grin and couldn’t help but wonder what he was thinking about that made him smile so, but she knew better than to ask that question. Soon enough she received her answer though. Ariel nodded when he said he was trying to get to know the town – she definitely could relate to that. At the mention of his brother she immediately had a mix of thoughts running through her head; first she thought that it probably sucked having to babysit all the time, but then she thought maybe it wasn’t so bad because it was his own brother, and then she wondered what it was like, since she was an only child and was used to it. She was even used to it being just her and her father though she knew when she was at a friend's house whenever the entire family was around she would feel a pang of sadness and even some jealousy. She didn’t linger on those thoughts tough, and when she noticed Vincent taking out his phone from his pocket she figured he was going to show her something so she stepped closer to him.
Luckily he really did intend on showing her pictures as he turned the phone over to her so she could see. She stepped by his side so they could watch together as he showed her a photo of his little brother and his mother with a box-y background. Ariel chuckled, remembering her own house, which was still filled with unpacked boxes. She also smiled as she looked closer at the photo and saw how happy they looked. "Your brother's so cute!" she said smiling brightly, "and your mom is gorgeous!" she exclaimed looking from the phone to Vincent, noticing a slight resemblance between him and his mother. "What's his name?" Ariel asked, looking back at the photo, and although she asked about his brother, she was actually looking at his mother, trying to imagine what it was like having a mother in her life. She didn’t mean her thoughts to stray to that direction, but being back in Beacon Hills brought up memories of her mother, for better and for worse.
