Bonding via Boxing [Ariel]

Ayame looked over at her new friend. She had undone her gloves and unwrapped her hands as well, flexing them as Ayame had done. She chuckled when Ariel spoke, saying that she swore she had never boxed before. She downed some of her water before she spoke again, saying that she did some martial arts, mostly Aikido and Jiu Jitsu and some Krav Maga. Ayame nodded before the girl spoke again, saying that she would have thought it would make her dad less worried, but he grew more and more anxious every day. She then said that when she told him that she was going to take up boxing, he asked her why she needed to box and if she was planning on punching someone. Talk about typical behavior for someone who didn't know much about boxing.

The boxing instructor laughed and shook her head. “Yeah, well, tell your old man there’s more to boxing than punching people,” she teased. “I would assume that father’s get protective of their daughters the older they get due to one thing, and that’s the male species that’s also growing up. It’s not easy for fathers to watch their daughters grow up so quickly, let alone date some guy whom they have yet to approve,” she reasoned before shrugging her shoulders. Dating was never something Ayame’s father had to worry about when he was alive, but even in his death he needn’t worry. It wasn’t like she had men lining up to date her anyway. She was a little on the intimidating side when it came to, well, her boxing…and her friend’s list (thanks Peter…).

It didn’t take too long before Ayame started to feel her muscles become unhappy. She set down her water bottle and started to stretch, making sure to cool down a little, which she should have done at first but she couldn’t help it. The girl needed rest and water ASAP. A cool down could wait a few minutes. She stretched out a bit. “But all those different martial arts sound like fun. Are they self-taught or did you have an instructor?” Ayame asked curiously as she stretched out the various muscles in her arms and shoulders. She was going to make things as easy as possible for her before she decided to head home for a shower, or head to the diner for some dinner, she wasn’t sure. It depended on what her aunt was doing for dinner, if she was even home.

The topic of father’s and dating wasn’t too awkward for Ayame. She had wished often that her father had lived long enough to even be close to protective of her when she was old enough hto date (even if he would prefer her to never date ever). It was kind of nice to be able to talk to someone about this who actually had a dad. Ariel was quick to tell her friend that it was rare as it could be for her, but it didn’t stop her dad from freaking out about it. He was apparently embarrassing, making Ayame laugh. “Yeah, well, he’s just trying to make sure you don’t get hurt, but I feel you on the rarity thing. I’ve never really been on a date. I mean, not even when I was at Leo’s house? It wasn’t a date and to be honest, I think he skipped town. I haven’t heard from him in a while and his apartment is barren,” she confessed with a sigh before she ran a hand through her hair. If only she knew what in the hell had been going on with him. She didn’t, of course, but she wished.

Ariel then told Ayame that her Uncle had taught her everything that she knew about self-defense. She nodded her head in understanding before she said that she missed her sessions with her uncle but he told her what he could do to keep training on her own so hopefully it’d be enough, or even more so what she wanted to happy, he would visit soon and they could train together again. Ayame nodded in agreement. “I hope he comes to visit you then, I know it’s a lot better to train with someone than it is to train alone, especially when they know more than you do,” she said with a bit of a laugh. After all, Ayame had learned everything from her father and no one in Beacon Hills was better than her, which she knew since she taught the classes, but sometimes she wished someone was, someone somewhere who would be able to help her hone her skills further, but alas, that wasn’t the case and so she just had to keep her skills where they were for now, which she wasn’t overly fond of.

It seemed that the news about Leonardo had surprised Ariel. She said that she was sorry to hear that he had apparently up and left. She said that he sounded like a good guy, potentially. Ayame nodded her head. “Yeah, I mean, he was a sweetheart, or is rather. I’m sure whatever he left for there was a good reason.” She sighed gently. “I just wish I knew what it was, you know?” She asked before she shrugged her shoulders witch made her cringe a little before she started to stretch out her shoulder muscles as well.

The blonde agreed with Ayame that it was always better to train with someone who was better than you so that you could improve and have someone notice if you were doing anything correctly and let you know if you weren’t. Then the question was posed about what Ayame did, making her chuckle. “I still have connections to a few of my old man’s coaches and colleagues so I call them up when I feel the need or they have me head to San Diego to train or something,” she told her, grinning. She appreciated the concern, but she had it covered, her dad’s friends made sure of that.
