Knock, knock, knock!
Peter Hale sat up quickly from his kitchen table. Spread about were various papers, books, and his laptop. Usually he would have been at his desk but it didn’t quite work out that way. He had far too many things that he needed to spread out and look over. He had been looking over a few things for Derek and Scott. They were trying to figure out a few things for something. Peter wasn’t exactly given the details. They didn’t quite trust him, which he figured was…accurate. He understood why they didn’t, but even so, it hurt a little on the inside…deep on the inside in a part that Peter didn’t surface. To be honest, the man was surprised that he heard the knock on the door. He usually had on music when he was doing this, but his music player had stopped. Pandora had decided to ask him if he was still listening. He was but he hadn’t been focusing on the music enough and it had been silent for almost ten minutes now.
Taking the pen from his mouth and tucking it behind his ear, Peter stood up and made his way towards the door. He grew curious as to who was knocking on his door. He looked through the peep hole and his eyes widened significantly before he unlocked the deadbolt and the chain and opened the door. ”Margret?” ”So sorry to bother you, Peter! But I really need to get to work and Jack’s babysitter is sick. Do you think you could watch him for me?” Peter looked down, finally realizing that there was a baby in her arms. He paused, looking at it, clearly lost. ”Uh…” ”Thanks so much!” She chirped, not waiting for his full response. She put the bag in one of his hands and pushed the baby in the other. Peter was quick to grip the child with both hands before she was gone.
Margret left Peter standing there in his open door way with a bawling child. Quickly, he entered his home and kicked the door shut with his foot. He turned and gently placed the bag down on his coffee table before he grabbed the phone of the apartment complex, ringing Kahlee’s apartment. He truly hoped that she was home and answered the phone. He held the baby at arm’s length as it continued to sob and wiggle around. What in the hell was he supposed to do with a baby? He was a psychopath. He was Satan in a V-Neck for Pete’s sake! He knew roughly how to take are of child, but those were children. A baby? Not so much. Talia never let him go near Laura, Derek, or Cora when they were babies. Then again, Peter never blamed her and to be honest, he never really showed much interest. He had missed out on the parenting thing with Malia so he was completely lost.
Finally Kahlee picked up the phone. ”Jesus Christ, I need your help. Now. My apartment. Move it,” Peter snapped before he hung up the phone. The baby’s crying was already giving him a headache and making him cranky.
