Sins of a Father

Peter was jostled awake by his phone ringing. He looked down at it, blinking so that his eyes could adjusted to the light that glared at him from his fancy space machine that he had gotten not too long ago. He picked it up and held it close as he squinted his eyes before he realized that it was Kahlee. What in the world was she calling him for? Surely there had to be a good reason for it. Perhaps someone had roughed her up at the bar she was working at? The girl was pretty competent so he doubted she’d call for that. Before he could answer the phone, though the call ended. He mumbled under his breath and went to call her when his screen told him he had a voicemail from her. Pausing what he was doing, he pushed the button, listening in to his voicemail. He listened intently to the voicemail that she had left him.

The panic in her voice was enough to force him into an alert state. Add in the fact that she said her father was in Beacon Hills and found her and that was enough to make the Beta’s blood boil. A snarl ripped from his throat before he tossed his comforter off of him and quickly pulled on his clothes, whatever he could find. Whatever he could find ended up being a pair of loose jeans and a white v-neck t-shirt. He slipped on his shoes as he headed for the door, pocketing his wallet and phone before he left out the door, not caring enough to lock the door behind him. Should anyone or anything be there when he returned and he would make sure that their trachea ended up in his mouth as he watched them gasp for air before their eyes became lifeless. Peter was not in the mood.

The wolf stepped out of his apartment and sniffed the air, eyes flashing their usual slate blue as he attempted to find Kahlee’s scent. Once he got a hold on it, he was off, attempting to find her. She was far closer than he thought she would have been. Not too long after he started weaving in and out of alleys and side streets did he find her. Quickly, Peter grabbed her arms and made her look at him. ”Where is he?” He asked her before a scent caught his nose, one that reminded him of Kahlee’s but also seemed to have alcohol permanently imprinted on it. Peter moved in front of her and pushed her behind him. A silent snarl tugged at his upper lip before he calmed himself, looking as though this was going to be a walk in the park. He could smell the anger seeping off of the Alpha that was approaching but it didn’t intimidate Peter in the slightest.

Peter kept his eyes on the fight before him, wondering when would be wise to make his move. He was calculating, making sure that when he chose to attack, it would do the most damage to Kahlee’s father and catch him off guard. Giving Peter the most advantage that he could get on the Alpha. So, he leaned against the wall, acting as though he was hurt far worse than he actually was, keeping a close eye on the fight between father and daughter. It was clear that there was bad blood between the two of them before he had seen them around each other, but the way her father acted was more of a tyrant than a father, than a slave owner than a father and the in and of itself made Peter want to slit his throat from ear to ear. Still, he knew he wouldn’t be able to do it, not now, not tonight. No. He needed to take his time, plan it, and know when it was time to strike.

Kahlee fought hard and she fought with what Peter thought was the intent to kill. He could feel it oozing off of her. Her mouth had clamped down on her father’s arm and he bellowed at her, telling her that she was his daughter, but she hesitated when it came to the kill. Good, he thought. Not because he was glad Kahlee didn’t become a killer but because that was what Peter wanted. He wanted to kill her father because he wanted his power back, his Alpha status back and Peter would kill the man before him to get it, there was no doubt about it. So, what Kahlee’s father saw as weakness, Peter saw as a golden opportunity for him. It played out almost perfectly, but even so, he knew that if she got too angry, she may do his job for him, which would mean Peter would be powerless once again, he would remain Alphaless and would stay in his useless Beta state for longer than he ever wanted to.

Hearing sirens in the distance, Peter watched as the Alpha shifted into his wolf form, which was horrific, almost as horrific as the wolf that Peter had turned in to. He grew in size and eventually her bite was released and the two ended up staring each other down. Her father went for her and despite how there was an attempt to dodge, she was still scratched by his claws. It would take a while to heal but soon she lunged towards her father again, trying to attack his chest or his shoulder. Peter took this opportunity to sneak behind the Alpha while he was distracted and closed his eyes a moment, wolfing out completely, his face distorted, his hair around his face growing, his claws forming, and his teeth elongating. Peter let out a low snarl before he attacked. He lunged at the Alpha, jumping so that his claws sank into the Alpha’s back before he pulled down, cutting open the back muscles on the enlarged Alpha. Before the man had the chance to retaliate, Peter made eye contact with Kahlee’s wolf. ”Sirens,” he told her, his lips curling over his fangs.
