Stuck in a Cage (OPEN)

When Kahlee told Peter that maybe she would go and visit Deaton, he nodded his head in response. She then said that perhaps she wouldn’t mention his name. He chuckled, not looking at her. ”That would be best, I think,” he joked. He was serious as well, but at the same time, he had a feeling that she would do better if she didn’t mention his name until later. It also may get a bit of an in with the pack if she did use his name. They may take pity on the poor girl and bring her in to teach her the “right” way to do things because Scott was an intelligent young Alpha who knew everything… Note the sarcasm that was there...it’s coated heavily so it wasn’t as if you could miss it.

After Peter asked his question, Kahlee asked for him to give her a minute. Before he could respond, she had rushed off and he grinned a bit. He had to admit, he was pretty proud of how quickly she had caught on to his lesson. After all, it wasn’t every day that Peter was able to teach someone something. He hadn’t taught another werewolf since Derek and that wolf didn’t need anything else from him save for the little things. The little things or difficult things Peter could teach Derek ,but anything helpful? Not so much. So he was glad that Kahlee and him had run in to each other in the Preserve. He was able to be a bit of a father figure or something because he had missed out on that in most of Malia’s life time.

Kahlee jogged back across the street and over to Peter, grinning over at him. Apparently something good had happened. She said that he had to go back and meet the other owner of the place but if he liked him, they would give her a test run. Peter nodded her head, grinning. ”Good, I’m glad you’ve found someone to potentially work for,” he told her before she chuffly asked him if they would look at apartments. Peter laughed a bit and shook his head. ”Alright, sounds like an idea. We’ll head to my apartment complex first and then go from there,” he told her, smiling a bit before he turned and started to walk down the street towards his apartment building.

Notes; I KNOW, RIGHT?! WHAT?

The girl’s happiness seemed to leak in to Peter’s own emotions. As he stood there, he realized that for once he was relatively happy. He was enjoying his time around another person, another wolf as it was. Still, it was someone who Peter doubted he would have ever encountered or wanted to be around in any regular circumstance, but the girl had run across him, or rather he had run across her. It was just something that happened, but for once it was something good. Well, something Peter deemed as good anyway. He happened to really be enjoying himself around her, which was odd given the fact that he hardly enjoyed himself around his own family anymore. It was sad, but true. Just another day when it came to Peter Hale and his lifestyle that he had chosen for himself.

Kahlee chirped an okay and Peter shook his head as the two strode forward. The girl jogged to keep up with him, almost like a lost puppy. He smirked, the nickname sticking in his mind. Of course, he was pulled from his thoughts of his cleverness when the girl asked him if he had any family around. Peter’s emotions almost downed instantly. He remembered his family, he always did, but at that moment he hadn’t been thinking about them for once and it was truly something that he hadn’t expected to happen at that moment. He hadn’t expected her to mention his family, nor had he expected his emotions to close themselves off so quickly and so abruptly. His eyes flashed slate blue at the thought of Kate Argent before he let out a sigh and refocused.

Peter took a deep breath, knowing he should answer her question that perhaps talking about his family would help him out. ”Only my nephew and niece… I um, have a daughter but that’s…a rather long story that isn’t going to pan out the way I want it to,” he told her honestly. Besides, what did he have to hide? ”The rest of our family died in a horrible house fire. There’s a place just across the lines of the Preserve, where we just were. It’s been nicknamed the Haunted Hale House. It was my home,” he told her. It had been several years, but getting over your family getting slaughter wasn’t something that happened over time…or ever for that matter. It was something that would always weigh down Peter’s heart, no matter what he did.

Notes; GAH! And I don't know if I'll see Monday's episode since I'm in another state. Eep!

Peter gently ran his hand over the back of his head, gently rubbing at the back of his neck. He sighed gently before he spoke of his family to her about his niece, nephew, and daughter. He didn’t like using names, but figured he should still talk about it. After all, it wasn’t as though he was going to tell her every little detail of his life or his family. So, why not share with her what he didn’t share with many people? Sure, he’d confess about having a niece and a nephew, but a daughter? That was still new information to him and information that he was worried about…very…very worried about. He had no idea how she would react but he had a feeling that it wouldn’t really end all that well for him…at all…ever…

Pushing those thoughts away, Kahlee told him that he should fix whatever it was with his daughter. He sighed a bit. ”That’s easier said than done seeing as…well…I didn’t even know I had a daughter until a few months ago…and she was raised by another family,” he confessed to her. He was growing…somewhat close to the girl in such a short amount of time. To be honest, she was the only one around who showed any real interest in him at all and as such, he was rather starved for affection and attention. Not physical attention or affection, of course, but still. He missed talking to people, charming people, and just being able to have that sort of connection with people, but he digressed. What was he to do when he was technically supposed to be dead?

After mentioning his daughter, Peter mentioned the rest of his family. There was a silence before Kahlee apologized quietly before she looked up at him with her large, emotional eyes. Peter shook his head and looked forward. That look was enough to make his heart strings shake. ”While I appreciate the sentiment, it’s…there’s nothing that can be done about it,” he told her carefully before they arrived at his apartment complex. They headed into the front building and Peter pushed the door open for her, holding it before he stepped in behind her. ”Rose? Rose there’s a girl here I need you to meet,” he called quietly and within a few moments, a short, portly woman appeared, grinning brightly. ”Peter! Who is this?” She asked as she came up to the two of them. Peter waited fro the girl to introduce herself and explain her situation to his landlord.

PThere was a bit of an awkward silence between the two before Kahlee spoke, telling Peter that her mother left her and her siblings of unknown gender to him when she was two years old. She then said that her brother (there’s one gender now known) raised her because her father was too drunk to even sit up on his own. Peter made a face of dislike. He hated it when people did that kind of thing. When people turned to alcohol or drugs when things went south in their lives. For some, it was the only path that they knew, for others Peter assumed them as weak. He couldn’t help it. While it was normal to be upset when the love of your life left you, you needed to stay strong for your children, you needed to be there for them not abandon them as well. Insolent people and their inability to be parents. Really, how unresponsible, uncaring, unloving could you be towards your own children? He thought bitterly to himself.

Still, Peter kept those thoughts to himself as the girl continued to speak, telling him that she would give anything to have a ten minute conversation with her mother. She was looking up at him for a moment before the two of them refocused on their walk towards his apartment complex. She then said that he should give his daughter the chance to meet him. Peter sighed. He knew that she was right, but to be honest, he was nervous about how well or…not well the meeting would go. ”Easier said than done. She has no idea she was adopted… She assumes the man that raised her is her father,” he expressed, shaking his head a bit. He had done his research on his biological daughter and to be honest, he was surprised with the history he found. The part about her living in the wilderness for years after a horrible car accident with her younger sister and her mother. Her father being distraught over their deaths before his baby returned to him. It was almost like a fairy tale…almost.

The two stepped into the apartment complex main office and Peter could tell that Kahlee was tense. He was half tempted to tell her to calm down, but she seemed to relax after the woman came out and approached her. Introductions were made and then the young Omega told the woman her story and everything else. She stretched it a bit when it came to her job, but Peter kept his mouth shut. If need be, Peter had plenty of money and he could easily help with the rent. It was something that he and Rose would discuss later if she liked. The old woman was wary at first before she accepted the girl’s story and pulled her into the office to go through the large amount of paperwork she needed before the girl appeared, look quite proud of herself with her keys in her hand. Peter smirked a bit, unable to help it. ”Got the apartment then?” He asked her, it was rhetorical. He knew that she had gotten it. He nodded for the staircase. ”C’mon then, let’s get it checked out. Need to make sure you report damages and the like so you don’t get charged for them later,” he explained. He wasn’t sure whether or not she had ever had an apartment, so he figured he’d stick around and help out until she felt like leaving his presence.

Notes; Yeah, I ran across a few spoilers on Tumblr and I'm crying about it, but I digress.

A huffed growl escaped Peter’s throat as the girl told him that he looked like he was about to drive down to Mexico and kill him himself. ”Don’t tempt me,” he mumbled. Being a father who had missed out on the chance to raise his daughter and be around her, the thought of a man ignoring his child because of alcohol angered him. What gave that man the right to squander the relationship that he was allowed to have with his daughter? That he had with his daughter? It was just something that truly angered Peter. He couldn’t help it. Every paternal instinct that he had made him want to go down and rip the man’s throat out, even his wolf nudged at his chest. It was still weak, but still wanted the man to pay for his lack of parenting instinct. He hoped the man wasn’t an Alpha, although if he was, it would make becoming an Alpha quite easy… In fact, a lot easier than anything else he could think of, but he digressed.

Peter pushed those thoughts from his head as they entered the apartment complex office. He waited patiently before Kahlee approached him. He asked her about the apartment before suggesting they look at it so that he could make sure she reported all of the proper damages that way if Rose forgot one or overlooked it, Kahlee wouldn’t be punished for it. The girl smiled at him, telling him that she didn’t get the apartment, but she was given a deal on taking his couch. Peter snorted and rolled his eyes at her sarcasm. She needed a little help with that aspect, but Peter digressed and instead looked at the girl as she said that she was joking and that she gave her the small apartment on the first floor. Peter nodded his head. Rose had thought about giving it to him but he was a big man and a small apartment just wasn’t something that he could comfortably live in. He very much preferred the large, spacious apartment that he had. It was more expensive, but definitely worth it.

The young Omega stepped forward and began to climb the stairs towards the first floor. Peter followed after her. She stopped at her door and after a bit of trouble with the keys (he would mention it to Rose later), the girl opened the door and started to look around. The apartment wasn’t perfect and things were in relatively alright condition. It had clearly been lived in, but as a poor homeless werewolf, he knew that Kahlee would appreciate it anyway. He noticed the walls needed a new coat of paint, the roof had a slight leak in the living room, and the couch needed to be reupholstered, but he wasn’t sure if there was anything he could do about the couch. He eyed other areas of the apartment and wondered what all they could alter. He would ask the girl in a moment, but for now he needed to continue looking about to make sure that the obvious damages were noted and told to Rose.

As the man made these mental notes, he heard a noise from Kahlee. He paused and looked over at her. She looked over at him with puppy dog eyes and he sighed a bit, sending her a questioning look before he approached. He stopped in the doorway before he looked over at her, rolling his eyes before he stepped into the bathroom and killed it with his bare hands. He picked it up and tossed it into a trashcan before he turned to her. ”Better?” He teased playfully as he washed his hands in the sink and then wiped them on his jeans. He turned to her once more, showing her his clean hands. ”Now that the spider’s dead, is the little pup going to be okay?” He teased her playfully before he looked around the bathroom, noting cracked and broken tiles. Not a lot, but one or two which he would make sure to write down for her. The pipes worked fine so there was nothing he needed to note about that.

Notes; Baha, it's okay, Peter's got this...even if he is both annoyed and amused.

Aahlee told Peter that she would gladly let him if she didn’t want to do it so much herself. Peter gazed at her a moment, surprised by her words, but kept quiet. She then said that she would have done it years ago but he was too strong. He was an Alpha and he could rip a man in half and still be drunk if he really wanted to. Peter paused, sighing. He would need to do as he did with Laura and sneak up on the drunk man, ripping his throat out with his teeth, this time making sure that he stayed dead. After all, the only way Peter could retain his Alpha status was to kill the one who held it before him. He wanted his status, no, needed it back and if it meant going after Kahlee’s father against her wishes when he was at full strength then he would. He would, of course, keep this to himself. He didn’t like the idea of a useless Alpha like that. The man was nothing and as such, Peter would do his best to make sure he became exactly that.

The self-proclaimed Alpha scratched at the back of his head before she told him that spiders were creatures sent up from hell. She then asked how something natural could have eight legs. Peter chuckled. ”Yeah, well, we aren’t really that natural either? I mean what changes into something else at will naturally…hmm?” He asked, looking over at her before he tossed the dead spider into the trash and washed his hands. He teased her when he was done, but she seemed to miss it and instead nodded in response to his question. ”Well alright then,” he told her before he made his way towards the exit. As he did, he was surprised when she finally realized what he had said.

Peter had to admit, he was pretty shocked that it took Kahlee so long to notice that he had called her a little puppy. Technically he called her a pup, but it still took some time before she realized what he had called her and her response was more than a little amusing. She turned on her heel and looked at him with a wide eyed expression. It almost made him laugh at her as she asked him incredulously if he called her a little puppy, by merely reiterating it back to him. He nodded his head. ”Yes, a little puppy. Only pups are afraid of spiders,” he told her as he moved towards her and gently nudged her out of his way and headed back into the living room area, grinning to himself. Stepping on toes what was Peter did best.

Kahlee seemed to be at a loss for words after Peter spoke before she responded that neither of their forms had eight legs. Peter chuckled and shook his head. She then said that they had history that explained why they were the way they were, why they changed forms. She then said that spiders didn’t and that they ere just always there. Peter laughed. ”You do know that there’s this new theory called evolution, right?” He mocked her playfully as he looked over at the arachnophobic girl. This was one of the more amusing interactions that he had had with a new person. He hadn’t ever met someone so animated around him. Then again, most people were quite wary of him, but Peter had yet to give Kahlee a reason to be wary of him. In fact, he had only given her reason to trust him. He had helped her use some of her abilities, had helped her find a potential job, and had helped her find an apartment. In Peter’s mind, this made him the only friend that she had in Beacon Hills, which he had to admit, it was quite proud of.

The Omega whined after Peter gently pushed past her and heading back into the house away from the bathroom. She retorted that being afraid of spiders was a legitimate fear. ”Is it for a werewolf?” He called playfully over his shoulder as he continued to look about the living area before he headed into the kitchen, looking over other things that he would need to make note of. While he didn’t think Rose would try and drain the girl dry of funds on purpose, it was possible that some of these broken things would cause her to do so and Peter wasn’t about that life. In fact, he wasn’t about that with anyone that he knew and liked. Scott? Sure, he’d let the woman do as she wished but with this omega? No. He had already heard of her story with her father and to be honest, the mere idea upset him more than anything else and as such, he made the decision to take her under his wing, even if that was rather…uncharacteristic of him.

Kahlee asked Peter if there was anything major that he had noticed. He nodded his head. ”Yeah, there are a few things. I’ll write them down and make sure to give them to you, so you don’t forget any,” he told her, an almost paternal like tone to his voice before the girl told him that he was an overgrown puppy. She then stuck her tongue out at him. He gently patted her on top of the head. ”Of course I am,” he told her, rolling his eyes a bit before he leaned against the little island in the apartment, looking over at her. ”C’mon. I’ll show you where I live, should you ever need anything you can come up and see me,” he told her as he pushed himself off of the small island and made his way out the door. ”Always lock your door, even when you’re inside. You never know who lives around here,” he told her honestly.
