Rolling his eyes, Peter looked over at Kahlee. She asked him why would anything need to evolve to have eight legs. Like he was a fricken entomologist. How was he supposed to know? She thenasked what could someone possible do to need eight legs for at once. Peter shrugged his shoulders. ”Ask an entomologist,” he told her before the girl explained that spiders were evil and scary to any creature, even to themselves. Peter smirked. ”Only those who are not the top of the spider food chain,” he told her with his usual air of sass. He couldn’t help it though. All he remembered from high school was the concept of evolution and that everything evolved and changed given the environment that changed around it. Some died, others prospered, just as they would in the new Beacon Hills. The supernatural beacon that seemed to draw forth new supernatural creatures every day. It was the way that it was and the way that it would always be.
There was but a moment before Kahlee became defensive, telling Peter that her mind was better than most. ”Mhm,” he hummed, not fully believing her before he patted her on the head. She sent him a look before she exclaimed that she wasn’t a pet. He chuckled and shook his head before he brought up his apartment. Even to himself, Peter wasn’t sure why he would offer the young girl to approach him should she ever need anything. He supposed hearing about her father and being one himself (without knowing it in the past) made some sort of…paternal feelings arise. That and, well, should she become useful towards the pack, he wanted her to be close to him, to consider him a friend. After all, he was the person that helped her when she first came to Beacon Hills. It only made sense that she be the most loyal to him, should things turn out the way they were supposed to.
As they existed Kahlee’s apartment, the girl told him that he wasn’t inspiring her with confidence that the complex was a good place to restart. Peter shrugged. ”With everyone that’s being drawn here, it’s best to make sure you’re safe and won’t find Hunters in your apartment when you return from work,” he told her simply. He then headed up a few flights of stairs and headed out into the hallway on the fourth floor. He made his way down the hall, almost to the very end and unlocked his door before pushing it open. ”Welcome to my unfortunate Bachelor pad,” he informed her. The apartment was furnished with what looked like was the best, but even so, the apartment was still simple and had a bit of a modern feel to it. He took off his shoes at the door and made his way further into the apartment. ”Take off your shoes. The carpet is new. Would you like anything to drink?” He asked, figuring he should be a good host.
